A memorial for Forum co-founder Mary Elizabeth Anthony Brooks opened the
Dec. 2 Forum. Material from that memorial will be posted Wednesday at

Donna Dawson announced that she would be at the Forum next Tuesday, Dec.
9, to collect contributions to cover the remaining $8,000 in expenses to
send the West Charlotte High School cheerleading squad to the Auto Zone
Liberty Bowl in Memphis on Jan. 2. The money must be raised by Dec. 15.

Natheley McElrath announced that she needed Forum members to deliver to
the Dec. 9 Forum "gifts you really didn't ever like when you got them"
for use as prizes for the games at the Dec. 16 Forum Christmas Party.
She also encouraged all to invite others to the Dec. 16 event. The full
breakfast that morning will cost $5.

Thomas Moore thanked those who participated in last week's choir that
was assembled for the city's Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The service "was beautiful,
wonderful and over the top," said the choir director.

that it was beginning to fill 5,000 temporary jobs in North Carolina,
some part-time and some full-time, at hourly rates beginning at $8.75 an

Christmas party, with "Take a Gift, everyone's favorite game," other

breakfast is $5.00. "There hasn't been large attendance for the past
year or two.... A lot of people just don't know what it is." Look in

Donna Jenkins Dawson announced an "Until" donation drive this Saturday,
Dec. 13, from noon "until" at Claiborne's Private Lounge, 2342 Beatties
Ford Road across the street from the House of Prayer Mother Church.
Proceeds from the drive will help pay expenses as the West Charlotte
High School Lions Cheerleaders go to the 50th Auto Zone Liberty Bowl on
Jan. 2nd in Memphis. Dawson said she would stay at the fund drive from
Saturday noon "until" the team's expenses are fully covered. As of Dec.
9, about $7,000 needed to be raised by Monday, Dec. 15. Checks may be
made payable to West Charlotte High School Lions Club and mailed to West
Charlotte High School, attention Ms. Heath, 2219 Senior Dr., Charlotte,

Council will march this Thursday, Dec. 18, at 12:15 p.m. at The Square,
Trade and Tryon Streets, to mark the domestic violence-related homicide
of Elizabeth Michelle Elder, 38. "The march is intended to broaden the
public's awareness that there is help available, including local
programs and services offering domestic violence counseling and
