Malachi Greene announced that with the departure of the Senior Nutrition
program, Recreation Center Director Calandra Barnes had rearranged the
tables in the Forum's meeting room. A table blocking access to the doors
has been removed, the coffee buffet has been moved nearer the kitchen,
and the speaker's table is now under under the windows, easing movement
of latecomers.

Ahmad Daniels sent along a message from Dennis Darrell announcing a
one-night screening of John Sayles' "Honeydripper" (PG-13), winner of an
NAACP Image Award. The screening is Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at
Spirit Square, 130 N. Tryon St., and is sponsored by the Charlotte Reel
Soul Film Festival.
The forum will discuss at its March 18 meeting a Ken Koontz proposal to
move the Forum meeting time to 7:30-8:45 a.m. to make the Forum more
accessible to adults with morning work hours.

Thomas Moore announced that he would sing the solo in Handel's "The
Trumpet Will Sound" on Easter, March 23, at Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian
Church, 2929 Selwyn Ave., at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Nathaniel Cooper, candidate for N.C Commissioner of Insurance, announced
that he had put up a campaign website at www.nathanielcooper.com. "It's
still kind of under construction."

Nancy Stroud announced that the Anita Stroud Youth Development Center,
which operates an afterschool enrichment program at the Oaklawn
Recreation Center, needs volunteers. She said she would return to the
Forum with more information.

Nancy Stroud also annnounced that the International Children's Outreach
Ministry, which has for 10 years brought South African students to the
U.S. for the summer, also needs help financing a nine-city court for the
youth and the $1,000 purses for each student to take back to his or her
high school. More information will be forthcoming: "They will benefit
our children equally as much," Stroud said. U.S. children, she said,
"need to know that greatness is in the midst of poverty."

Charlotte Brown-Williams announced a Black Political Caucus candidate
forum for 5 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Little rock AME Zion Church at 7th
and McDowell Streets.

Ahmad Daniels sent in an announcement of the March 13 and 14 7:30 p.m.
performances at the Mint Museum of "For Colored Girls Who Have
considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf," the 1975 series of linked
poems to be presented by On Q Productions. Admission is free.

Joel Ford, recently elected chairman of the Mecklenburg Democratic
Party, announced that he would address the Uptown Democratic Forum this
Thursday, March 20, at noon at the Levine Museum, 200 E. 7th St. There

by The African Lady Shop for this Saturday, March 29 from 5-9 p.m. at
Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, in the Parish Life Center at

Dwayne Collins announced that the Black Political Caucus would hold its
First Annual Spring Ball on Saturday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Marriott Tyvola Road. Tickets are $35. Proceeds are to support
get-out-the-vote efforts for the May 6 primary.

Robin Bradford announced that the Millions More Movement and the Young
Democrats would collaborate on a candidate forum on Monday, April 28 at
6:30 p.m. at Little Rock AME Zion Church at 7th and McDowell Streets.

Joel Ford announce that the executive committee of the Democratic Party
would meet tonight March 25, at 6:30 p.m. at 4329 Monroe Road. He said
that audio from the meetings would be streamed over the Internet. He
said that during the meeting, the party would announce its plans for
temporarily filling the NC House 107 seat vacated in December by Pete
Cunningham.
